Guide

Install, sign in and update AIKINGBOT

A guide for the Windows Beta. The app interface is in English, so menu names are quoted as they appear.

1. Install on Windows

Download AIKINGBOT-<version>-setup.exe from the Download section. Check its SHA-256 if you like (see Verify).

Open the installer. Because the beta is not code-signed, SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC": click "More info", then "Run anyway".

The installer needs no administrator rights, installs for the current account and creates an AIKINGBOT shortcut. The app opens when it finishes.

Portable (.zip): unzip into a folder and run AIKINGBOT.exe. The portable build does not update itself.

2. Connect a model

On first start, choose an engine: AIKING Core (needs an Anthropic API key in Settings → Connections) or another engine such as Claude, ChatGPT/Codex, Gemini or Grok, then sign in with your plan.

You can add several accounts and keys; each bot picks its own model in its settings.

3. Sign in to your workspace with email

Desktop app: on the welcome screen choose "Sign in to your workspace" (or the workspace menu at the top → "Sign in to my AIKINGBOT workspace…"). Enter your email, open the message from AIKINGBOT and type the 8-character code.

Browser: open https://aikingbot-app.srv1866690.hstgr.cloud, enter your email and the one-time code. A code works once within 10 minutes; check your spam folder if it has not arrived.

Email only proves who you are; the workspace owner decides who can enter and with which role (Settings → People). If you see "not a member of this workspace", ask the owner to invite your email.

Advanced / self-hosting / recovery: one-time pairing codes still work from Settings → Remote access or https://aikingbot-app.srv1866690.hstgr.cloud/pair.

4. Updates

Installers with an update channel check 15 seconds after start-up and every hour. When a new version exists, the app downloads it in the background, shows progress and a Restart button to install.

Manual check: Settings → About → Check for updates.

Data in %USERPROFILE%\.aikingbot (bots, conversations, skills, settings) is kept across updates.

0.3.0-rc.1 has no default update channel: install the newer installer over it once, and later versions update themselves.

5. Verify downloads

PowerShell: Get-FileHash .\AIKINGBOT-<version>-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Compare the result with the SHA-256 on the Download section or the SHA256SUMS file in the release folder.

6. Troubleshooting

The app does not open: collect the logs in %APPDATA%\AIKINGBOT\logs and attach them to your report.

An update fails: download the latest installer from the Download section and install it over the current one; your data is not affected.

Cannot sign in: email codes work once and expire after 10 minutes — choose "Send a new code". If you are told you are not a member, ask the workspace owner to invite your email.
